IDPE Consulting Group maintains a large contractor network, with a proportion of our contractors having completed multiple consecutive assignments with us. We pride ourselves on the excellent relationships we enjoy with this growing base of contracting professionals.
Whether you are a contractor with many assignments under your belt, or you are considering applying for a contracting role for the first time, we have many services to help you find the right position for you.
Importantly, it doesn't stop there. Once you have secured a contracting position, we are committed to supporting you with a variety of services to help you in you immediate position and to plan for future assignments.
The Placement Process.
Our approach to placement is one of carefully matching your competencies and objectives with the requirements of recruiting clients. In order to minimise demands on your time, we will only forward you for the roles where there is a very close match between these parameters.
Once you have selected (a) role(s) that you are interested in pursuing, the process we will undertake with you is as follows.
- We will detail the specific contract requirement and the scope of the position(s);
- We will arrange to interview you, and on the basis of this we will qualify your specific technical competencies for the position(s);
- We will confirm the expected level of remuneration and duration for the position(s);
- We will manage the delivery of your technical summary to the recruiting Client(s) along with other relevant information;
- You will be well briefed on the Client organisation(s) and on all aspects of the contract before meeting the recruiting Client(s);
- In the event that you are selected for the contract position you will be required to sign our standard contract agreement, which sets out the terms and conditions of the arrangement. This will also include Professional Indemnity and Taxation Option considerations;
- In the event that you are not offered the contract position, with your consent we will retain your technical summary on our recruitment database and we will contact you if a suitable opportunity arises.
Taxation Options.
IDPE Consulting Group can provide advice to contractors as to how New Zealand income tax can be best managed on an individual basis.
New Zealand income tax is either collected at source by IDPE (see PAYE below), or can be managed by the Contractor individually.
PAYE.
An acronym standing for 'Pay As You Earn', this option entails your employer deducting tax from your earnings and paying it directly to Inland Revenue.
Provisional Tax.
Provisional Tax is a form of income tax payment that is based on estimates of income in the current taxation period, for self-employed individuals or organisations.
This form of taxation is applicable to self-employed contractors who elect to be responsible for paying their own taxes direct to Inland Revenue.
IDPE Consulting Group normally suggests that an accountant be utilised to assist each individual with this process to ensure all compliance requirements are met in accordance with government tax laws.
GST.
GST is a Government imposed Goods and Services Tax. The current New Zealand GST rate is 12.5%.
A GST registered contractor is expected to provide for and pay GST as directed by the Inland Revenue.
Professional Indemnity Insurance.
The aim of Professional Indemnity Insurance is to provide protection, through insurance, to professional persons or organisations, against legal liability.
Its purpose is to cover professionals, their partners and practice against a claim for a mistake that has caused a client financial loss.
IDPE Consulting Group can provide full Professional Indemnity cover to all of our Contractors. We make this available to protect the financial interests of our Contractors while on assignment with IDPE Consulting Group. The premium charged for this cover is very competitive, and is paid only on the hours worked during the assignment.
The policy will, subject to the limit of indemnity, meet the costs of defending a claim made against an insured person or organisation. It will cover the cost of expenses incurred in the settlement of any claim and the limit of indemnity includes legal costs.
Broadly speaking, the cover includes protection against business injury arising from any negligent act, error or omission arising out of the provision of: software, software services, system integration services, computer hardware and/or firmware in work and/or professional advice provided, sold or supplied. In addition, breach of contract arising from the provision of the above services is included.
In summary, cover is provided for:
- Professional Negligence
- Personal Injury and Property Damage (Public Liability)
- Loss of Information
- Intellectual Property Infringements
- Fair Trading Act
- Libel and Slander
- Breach of Contract (Professional Services)
